Get a Priority Pass to Expedite Vehicle Registration Renewal
Harris County Priority Pass allows Harris County residents to complete questions and verify required documents ahead of visiting a Harris County Tax Office branch for select DMV services.
You can use your Priority Pass to skip the wait when renewing your vehicle registration provided you meet the following criteria.
For vehicle registration renewals, you must be the vehicle’s owner and provide:
- A Texas driver’s license with a Harris County address
- Valid, non-expired Texas vehicle insurance

A valid and passing vehicle emissions test (if applicable)
Follow the steps below to get started:
1. Log in (see Create a Profile on MyHarrisCountyTax) and click Priority Pass
2. Click Vehicle Registration Renewal
3. Select I understand and agree to the above in the "Eligibility & Requirements section.
4. Type your Year, Make, Model, and VIN ,in the respective fields in the "Vehicle Information" section.
5. Type your First Name, Last Name, and Email Address in the "Vehicle Owner Information" section.
6. Select the appropriate exemption response in the "Vehicle Emissions & Exemptions" section.
7. Select the month and year your registration expires from the drop-down menus, and select the applicable qualifier in the "Vehicle Registration Expiration" section.
8. Click Start Verification in the "Document Verification" section to complete the verification of the required documents. Before you begin, you will need the following:
- a valid and unexpired Texas Driver's License with a Harris County address,
- current vehicle Texas insurance (must match the vehicle and owner),
- and a valid and passed emissions test (if applicable)
9. Click Begin verifying the persona pop-up to complete the upload and verification of your documents.
10. Click Submit to complete the process. You will receive an email with your Priority Pass code.
